A critical BTCPay Server vulnerability is being actively exploited, with attackers reportedly draining funds from at least two Lightning nodes. BTCPay has advised users running LND to update to version 2.4.2 immediately or take affected servers offline.
⚠️ Key points:
🔴 Attackers obtained credentials capable of controlling Lightning wallets. 💸 Funds were stolen from affected nodes. 🛠️ BTCPay Server 2.4.2 contains the emergency fix. 🚫 Simply updating may not be enough if credentials were already compromised; operators should follow BTCPay's security guidance and review/rotate affected credentials. 📌 This affects BTCPay/LND operators, not ordinary Bitcoin holders just using a normal BTC wallet.
