$AAVE has been bleeding for three weeks straight, from roughly 187 down to 140 now, and today alone it's off about 5%. On the NanoTrading Fire chart (4h) every bounce since mid October has been sold, and price is now well under the value area low near 155.

Positioning is interesting though. Funding is basically flat, Binance futures accounts sit right at 50/50, but top traders are about 66% long on $AAVE and that number has been creeping up as price drops. OI slid from around $58M to $53M over the last couple of days, so it's mostly longs closing rather than shorts piling in.

The liquidation heatmap has most of the fuel overhead. The thickest recent cells are in the 145-158 zone, and the book also shows the biggest liquidity stacked around 150-155. Under price the map is pretty thin, which to me says the market has no strong magnet below and the squeeze risk is upward if sellers run out.

My plan: no longs while it's under 145. A 4h close back above 145-148 would put 150-155 in play fast. Losing 139.8 cleanly and i'd expect more drift lower with $BTC still soft.

Is anyone actually buying $AAVE down here or waiting for 130s first?

🚨 Aave Adjusts USDT Interest Rate Parameters to Protect Liquidity

DeFi lending giant Aave has lowered the optimal utilization threshold for Tether’s USDT on its Ethereum Core market from 94% down to 92%.

The change, executed on Oct. 21 in Ethereum block 26,241,799, causes borrowing interest rates to climb much steeper once pool utilization passes the 92% mark. Under the updated curve, borrowing costs at 94% utilization jump from 4.5% APR to 7% APR, adding 25,000 USDT in annual simple interest per 1 million USDT borrowed.

Based on LlamaRisk’s supply data of 2,892.2 million USDT, this change creates an estimated 57.8 million USDT in additional modeled unborrowed liquidity buffer.

💡 WHY IT MATTERS By penalizing heavy borrowing earlier, Aave is forcing borrowers to leave larger liquidity cushions. This helps ensure stablecoin lenders can withdraw funds without facing liquidity crunches, though it makes leverage more expensive for active traders during high-demand periods.

Aave just proposed V3.8 — a light security upgrade that locks Pool accounting during callbacks across 16 live networks.

On October 21, 2026, Aave Labs posted an ARFC for Aave V3.8. The release adds a reentrancy guard built on Ethereum’s EIP-1153 transient storage, so Pool books stay consistent when one transaction touches the Pool more than once. Flash loans stay outside the guard: flashLoan and flashLoanSimple can still drive liquidations from their callbacks, so existing integrations keep working.

The rollout targets active V3 instances on Ethereum (Core and Lido), Plasma, Avalanche, BNB, Monad, Base, Arbitrum, Mantle, X Layer, Polygon, Linea, Optimism, Gnosis, MegaETH, and Celo.
Frozen zero-cap instances are skipped. Next steps are community feedback, Certora and third-party audits, then an on-chain AIP — nothing has shipped yet.
