Monad rolls out a discounted buyback program, but almost nobody steps in to sell—
$MON , instead, rises against the trend by 5.9%.
This move is pretty interesting: a project’s主动回购 is usually a support signal, showing the team is willing to spend money to prop up the price. But the market reaction is completely the opposite—nobody is willing to sell to the project at the discounted price. That implies people don’t lack chips at all, and even think this price isn’t high enough.
In other words, holders are more willing to keep holding and wait than to take profit.
So the logic behind
$MON ’s rise isn’t the buyback itself, but the market’s repricing of the fact that “there are no sellers.” The expectation that circulating supply will be locked up becomes a short-term catalyst.
That said, do watch out for this: a lukewarm buyback could also mean the project faces tighter liquidity later on. If the hype doesn’t keep up, the buyback support could end up turning into a source of selling pressure. In the short term, it looks like bad news is already out of the way; in the medium term, we still have to see whether the Monad ecosystem can pick up this narrative.
