The U.S. crypto ETF market is moving deeper into altcoins.
Bitwise has filed for a group of 11 single-asset crypto ETF products, putting tokens including ZEC, AAVE, SUI, UNI, TAO, NEAR, TRX, ENA, STRK, HYPE and CC into the ETF pipeline. The filings expand the range of crypto assets being positioned for exchange-traded investment products.
But there’s an important distinction: an ETF filing does not automatically mean approval or immediate trading.
The regulatory process still matters, and individual products can move through different stages at different speeds. Recent SEC records show that at least some Bitwise products are already progressing through registration and exchange-listing procedures. For example, the Bitwise NEAR ETF received an effective registration notice on September 24, with its shares registered for NYSE Arca.
Why the filings matter
Bitcoin was the first major crypto asset to establish a large U.S. spot ETF market. Ethereum followed, and the ETF landscape has since expanded toward other major tokens.
Bitwise itself has already launched or announced products tied to assets beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum, including Solana, XRP, Hyperliquid and Chainlink.
The latest filings push that trend further into DeFi, Layer-1, privacy and newer crypto sectors.
For tokens such as $ZEC, $AAVE, $SUI and $UNI, an ETF structure could create another regulated investment route if the relevant products ultimately reach the market.
That doesn't guarantee new demand, however.
The important things to watch are SEC filings, registration effectiveness, exchange-listing approvals, launch dates and eventual assets under management.
The altcoin ETF race is getting broader
Bitwise's latest filings also arrive as the firm continues expanding its institutional crypto business. On September 23, Bitwise said it had more than $9 billion in client assets and published research based on interviews with investment professionals at 15 major institutions.
Meanwhile, Bitwise's September index changes are also notable: UNI and ZEC are scheduled to enter its Bitwise 10 Large Cap Crypto Index, while SUI is scheduled to exit that index at the September 30 rebalance.
Taken together, the developments show how quickly the institutional crypto product landscape is broadening.
For traders, the headline isn't simply that 11 more ETFs have been filed.
It's that the list of crypto assets being prepared for traditional-market access is getting longer.
Now the focus shifts from filings to which products actually make it through the regulatory process — and whether investors ultimately use them.
