#australiaproposescryptotransactionreportinglaw The Day Australia Decided Crypto Shouldn’t Stay in the Shadows For years crypto traders in Australia operated with relatively limited automatic reporting. That is changing. On 15 October 2026 the government released draft legislation that will require crypto platforms to share transaction data of Australian residents with the ATO. The move adopts the global OECD Crypto-Asset Reporting Framework and adds a domestic regime. If the bill becomes law, the new obligations are expected to begin in July 2027, with the first data packages and international exchanges arriving in 2028. Officials believe it will raise around A$170 million in additional tax. The public has until 28 October to have its say. Whether this brings greater fairness or greater scrutiny, one thing is certain: the era of low-visibility crypto trading in Australia is approaching its end.$ZEC $EIGEN $EDU
