Născut în 1842 lângă Torino, Italia, a murit în 1857 la vârsta de 14 ani. Elev al Sf. Ioan Bosco, care l-a numit „un sfânt mic”. A trăit o intensă devoțiune euharistică, Rozariul zilnic, Spovadă frecventă și mici sacrificii eroice („moarte mai degrabă decât păcat” era deviza sa). A fondat o Sodălitate a Concepției Imaculate printre băieții de școală; a ajutat colegii de clasă, a predat catehism copiilor săraci și a oferit penitențe pentru păcătoși și pentru Papă. A murit în liniște după o scurtă boală; canonizat în 1954 — cel mai tânăr sfânt non-martor la acea vreme.

„Moarte, dar nu păcat.”

Un model pentru tineri: sfințenia nu se măsoară în ani, ci în dragoste și puritate a intenției în îndatoririle zilnice obișnuite.
