I didn't think much about it when I first saw the numbers. Binance blocked $10.53 billion in potential user losses between early 2025 and early 2026. Over 22.9 million scam and phishing attempts intercepted in just the first quarter of 2026. More than 100 AI models deployed across their security stack. Numbers that large tend to feel abstract. I read them, acknowledged them, and kept scrolling. Then I came across one other figure buried in the same report. AI-assisted smart contract exploits can now be executed for as little as $1.22 per contract. That second number changed how I read the first one entirely. Because what those two figures are describing together isn't a security win. They're describing a race. And what makes this race genuinely different from anything the crypto industry has dealt with before is that both sides are running the same equipment. The same AI systems making Binance's defenses faster, smarter and cheaper to deploy are simultaneously making attacks faster, smarter and cheaper to execute. Each of those steps was a friction point where something could go wrong, where the scammer could be caught or make a mistake. I'm not suggesting Binance's security infrastructure isn't working. The evidence that it is runs to billions of dollars of prevented losses and millions of protected users. I'm suggesting that the same technology making that infrastructure possible is simultaneously lowering the barrier for the people trying to defeat it. And that dynamic doesn't resolve in favor of defense just because the defender is larger or better resourced.
