🔥 Why Your Breakout Trade Keeps Turning Into a Stop-Loss
Have you noticed how the moment you enter a breakout, the market suddenly makes a U-turn and hits your stop-loss? 😅
A big breakout candle can create FOMO. Retail traders jump in, while smart money may take advantage of that liquidity.
One rule I personally find useful:
Don’t chase the first breakout. Wait for confirmation.
For example, if price breaks above a major resistance:
1️⃣ Breakout — Price moves above the key level. 2️⃣ Fakeout — Price falls back and closes below the level, trapping breakout buyers. 3️⃣ Reclaim — Price moves back above the level and closes there again.
That reclaim can provide a more structured entry than blindly buying the first breakout candle.
But there is one big psychological challenge: sometimes price will break out and run much higher without giving you the confirmation you wanted.
Let it go.
A professional trader doesn’t need to catch every move. The goal is to follow your plan and protect your capital.
Missing one trade is better than chasing ten traps.
