The MSCI Emerging Markets Index fell 3.6% as Asian technology stocks weakened. The index hit its lowest level since April and marked its largest single-day drop since the end of June. A drop in oil prices helped European stocks and currencies avoid the sell-off. South Korea's KOSPI plunged nearly 11% after trading halts hit the market.
