🚨 Greek authorities just busted a crypto scam ring — 17 people arrested, including 9 military personnel.
This was far bigger than a small Telegram rug. Authorities say the network had been operating since at least 2025, using fake crypto-investment promises and pyramid-style recruiting to bring in new victims.
Police estimate more than $8M flowed through the scheme, with roughly 10,000 people potentially involved and average investments of around €800.
The pitch was simple: “Double your money in 50 days.”
Victims were encouraged to recruit more participants for bigger returns, while withdrawals were later frozen.
Police arrested 17 suspects, with another 9 people named in the case file, and seized hundreds of thousands of euros in cash and other evidence.
The lesson is simple:
Guaranteed returns + fast doubling + recruitment = major red flag.
Crypto didn’t create this scam. It was simply the wrapper.
