Dear users, Binance plans to resume the first phase of withdrawal services from 14:00 to 17:00 on November 1, 2026 (UTC+8). Since the incident, our team has implemented multiple preventive measures to safeguard the platform and conducted security assessments, continuously verifying whether the affected services are ready to resume. We hope to gradually restore withdrawal services after completing all security checks and preparations. Deposit services are operating normally. We understand that the suspension of withdrawal services has caused users concern and inconvenience. Restoring users’ normal access to their funds is our top priority, so we will proceed carefully and methodically to ensure services resume safely. As services are restored in phases, we will continue to closely monitor the platform.
Security Incident Asset Replenishment Update: Approximately 90% of Affected Assets Replenished and Proof of Reserves Snapshot Published (2026-10-31)
Dear Binance users, In our previous update, we mentioned that Binance had set aside more than $6.34 billion in company funds to cover the losses from the assets stolen in this security incident. At that time, approximately 80% of the affected assets had been replenished. This figure has now increased to 90%. BTC, ETH, USDT, BNB, SOL, USDC, XRP, USD1, RLUSD, and ZEC are now all backed by 100% in full reserves. We will continue purchasing the remaining stolen tokens through market and over-the-counter channels until all tokens are fully replenished to 100%. Binance will bear the financial losses from this asset theft, not users.
Latest update: We have completed replenishing $6 billion of the losses from funds stolen in this security incident.

Dear Binance users, Over the past 24 hours, our team has been working around the clock to respond to a serious security incident involving unauthorized withdrawals from a Binance hot wallet. At approximately 04:05 on October 30, 2026 (UTC+8), the Binance hot wallet was attacked, resulting in the loss of token assets worth approximately $6.3 billion. We understand the severity of this incident and the concern it has caused throughout the community. We are treating it as our highest priority. We are continuing our security investigation, upgrading our infrastructure systems, and working to prevent further losses and recover funds. In this announcement, we aim to provide a full account of what we have accomplished over the past 24 hours and the goals we are currently working toward.
Binance has begun replenishing the assets stolen in this incident and will continue working closely with law enforcement, asset issuers, blockchain intelligence firms, and industry partners to track, freeze, and recover more of the funds involved.
As stated in Binance’s previous announcement, the company will cover all losses related to the stolen assets using its own funds.
Binance has set aside more than $6.34 billion in company funds to cover the losses caused by this security incident. Of this amount, corresponding token assets worth more than $5 billion are already in place. For the remainder, we are purchasing the relevant token assets through market and over-the-counter channels to ensure the asset types match the affected tokens and to cover any shortfalls.
Because some tokens have limited liquidity and over-the-counter settlements take time, this process may take longer. We will share further updates as soon as possible.
The amounts above do not include assets that have been frozen or secured, which are still being recovered and verified. To date, approximately $3 billion in assets have been frozen with the support of industry partners. We will continue working with our partners and law enforcement to recover these frozen assets.
We will continue to use company resources to cover any verified shortfalls and, as recovery efforts progress, promptly share further verified updates. Ultimately, the status of all user funds can be independently verified by the public through Binance’s Proof of Reserves.
We are confident that we will get through this difficult time together. Thank you for your support.
Investigation update: According to the initial investigation, this security incident may have involved a compromised laptop. However, during the follow-up investigation, we discovered other possible points of entry.
This was a relatively sophisticated attack. We are working closely with law enforcement and doing everything we can to resolve the incident. We are still verifying the relevant facts and will share updates as soon as we have more confirmed information.
Binance will cover all losses resulting from the theft through the SAFU Fund and its own funds. Please rest assured that user funds are safe.
The restoration of withdrawals is still on track and is expected to be completed within the next 45 hours. Deposits are unaffected.
Following the temporary suspension of withdrawals, the related outflows have stopped. We are continuing to work with our partners to trace and freeze the affected assets, and have frozen approximately $3 billion to date.
As more information is verified, we will continue to share the latest updates through Binance’s official channels.
The deposit function is no longer affected, and users can now make deposits as usual.
Withdrawals remain temporarily suspended while our team carries out a comprehensive security upgrade of the withdrawal service and related addresses. We expect to resume withdrawals within the next 48 hours and will share any updates promptly.
This incident was caused by a combination of factors. We are currently tracing the full attack path through the compromised computer, which may have been the entry point for the incident. We will publish a full report, including a root cause analysis, at a later date.
We will continue to share the latest updates through Binance’s official channels.
Binance’s preliminary investigation indicates that this security incident may have involved the compromise of a DevOps engineer’s laptop, allowing the attacker to access a service container and submit an unauthorized withdrawal transaction. We have found no evidence that any wallet private keys were compromised. Once the investigation is complete and all the facts have been fully verified, we will publish a detailed technical postmortem.
The total impact of this incident is estimated at approximately $6.3 billion. We have been working with blockchain partners to freeze the affected assets, and approximately $3 billion has been frozen on-chain so far.
Binance will cover all losses through the SAFU Fund and its own corporate funds. Please rest assured that user funds are safe. Once the remediation work is complete, we will also publish an updated Proof of Reserves.
As an immediate precaution, Binance has taken the following actions: - Temporarily suspended deposits and withdrawals while security checks are completed; - Revoked authorization for the affected address; - Worked with law enforcement agencies and blockchain intelligence partners to track and recover the funds.
Our team is working around the clock to address this issue safely and thoroughly. We are working closely with law enforcement to identify these criminals and bring them to justice.
