Surging demand for AI infrastructure has triggered large-scale shortages of components such as storage chips, prompting leading PC manufacturers including HP, ASUS, and Acer to begin using ChangXin Technology’s DRAM chips.
According to sources, several major PC manufacturers completed the validation process for ChangXin Technology’s DRAM chips by the middle of this year, and have started limited-scale deployment in laptop computers. However, quantities and model options remain very limited, as ChangXin prioritizes much of its production capacity to serve mainland China customers such as Huawei.
In addition, PC manufacturers are relatively cautious about adopting Chinese chips, fearing it could anger major global storage chip suppliers such as Micron, Samsung Electronics, and SK hynix.
ChangXin’s DRAM entering the global PC supply chain is just the first step, but it still has a considerable way to go before reaching large-scale adoption.
