Polymarket recently has a rumor that they plan to create their own dedicated Layer 2 chain, no longer using the current Polygon.

The core reason is simple: they feel that Polygon's network is not strong enough to support their future development. Moreover, the team has already admitted in Discord that they will issue the $POLY token in the future.

This trend is quite interesting, indicating that top applications have increasing demands for underlying performance. If they are not satisfied, they will just build it themselves. At this rate, if $POLY really issues a token, it is estimated to be around 2026.

Polygon has now been abandoned by its own ecosystem's flagship project~ it's a bit embarrassing.
