This is the largest external philanthropic commitment from the artificial intelligence giant to date. Although this is the largest nonprofit expenditure by OpenAI, the donation is a small fraction compared to the market value of the fund, which is approximately $130 billion after a recent corporate reorganization. A recent tax return showed that last year the OpenAI Foundation donated $7.5 million.
