On December 3, 2025, Binance, the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the world, announced the appointment of co-founder Yi He as co-CEO. The decision was announced by current CEO Richard Teng during a keynote speech at Binance Blockchain Week in Dubai. Yi He will share the role with Teng, forming a dual leadership structure – the first significant change since the resignation of founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) in November 2023 due to a deal with the US DOJ.
Yi He, the former host of Chinese TV, joined Binance in 2017 as a co-founder alongside CZ. Over the years, she has led marketing, customer service, and product innovation, helping the platform reach 300 million users. "Yi has been a key part of the team from day one. This is a natural step for growth," Teng noted. Yi He, who owns about 10% of Binance, emphasized: "Together with Richard, we will combine regulatory experience and crypto innovation for global expansion."
Yi He’s appointment – a rare case of female leadership in the crypto industry – is aimed at strengthening compliance, Web3 infrastructure, and achieving 1 billion users. The exchange, despite $4.3 billion in fines in 2023, continues to dominate with a daily trading volume of $100 billion+. This signals stabilization and a focus on long-term development.
