Crypto Terms Explained #2 โ What Is a Crypto Wallet? ๐
If youโve started learning about crypto, youโve probably heard people say โ
> โKeep your crypto safe in your wallet.โ
But what exactly is a crypto wallet? ๐ค
A crypto wallet is a digital tool that lets you store, send, and receive your crypto safely.
It doesnโt actually โholdโ your coins โ it stores your private keys, which prove that the crypto belongs to you.
There are two main types of wallets:
๐ป Hot Wallets โ connected to the internet (easier to use, like Trust Wallet or Binance Wallet)
๐ง Cold Wallets โ offline and more secure (like hardware wallets such as Ledger or Trezor)
๐ Your wallet = your control.
If you lose your private keys, your crypto is gone โ no bank or support team can recover it.
Thatโs why we always say:
> โNot your keys, not your crypto.โ
๐ก In my next post, Iโll explain โWhat Are Crypto Exchanges?โ โ where people actually buy and sell crypto safely.
