Let’s break them down 👇 1. 5T gas used BNB Smart Chain (BSC) recently hit a record $5T gas used in a single day, equivalent to 238M native transfers. This happened because swaps drove the surge, accounting for almost 50% of activity since Oct 1st. Swaps are almost 10× more gas-intensive than simple transfers, so even if Transactions Per Second (TPS) looks “normal”, total gas used skyrockets. This is why “gas used” is a truer measure of performance and efficiency than TPS. TPS only counts the number of transactions, whether it’s a simple transfer or a complex swap. Higher gas limit allows for more computation per block, which results in higher throughput and performance headroom for DeFi and trading activities. This means that BNB Chain can handle more transactions per block without slowing down while keeping fees ultra-low, even on record-high activity days.
