Ethereum Rebrands Privacy Team to “Privacy Stewards of Ethereum” and Launches End-to-End On-Chain Privacy Roadmap
The Ethereum Foundation’s Privacy & Scaling Explorations group has rebranded as Privacy Stewards of Ethereum (PSE).
The team has released a detailed privacy roadmap with a three-pillared structure: private writes (confidential on-chain actions like transfers, voting), private reads (shielding identity and intent when accessing or querying the chain), and private proving (efficient cryptographic proofs, zero-knowledge proofs, etc.).
Near-term goals include developing PlasmaFold (a Layer-2 solution for private transfers), implementing private voting, improving privacy in DeFi, and building privacy-preserving RPC services to reduce metadata leaks. A proof-of-concept for PlasmaFold is expected by Devconnect 2025 (Argentina).
Emphasis is also on identity and wallet privacy, balancing privacy with regulatory compliance, making the roadmap more action-oriented rather than purely research-based.
