What is Cryptocurrency

Cryptocurrency is a type of digital or virtual currency that uses cryptography for security, making it very hard to counterfeit or double-spend. Unlike traditional currencies (like dollars, euros, or rupees) issued by governments and central banks, cryptocurrencies are decentralized and typically operate on a technology called blockchain.

A blockchain is a distributed ledger that records all transactions across a network of computers (called nodes). This makes the system transparent, secure, and immutable (meaning records cannot be changed once added). The most well-known cryptocurrency is Bitcoin (BTC), but there are thousands of others, like Ethereum (ETH), Binance Coin (BNB), and Cardano (ADA).

Users can send and receive cryptocurrencies globally without the need for banks or intermediaries. Each person has a digital wallet secured by a private key, which ensures only they can access their funds.
