The German government failed to seize $5 billion worth of Bitcoin. According to data provided by the analytics company "Arcane Intelligence", the German government failed to confiscate a total of 45,000 Bitcoins ($5 billion) from the famous hacking site "Movie2K". If this analysis is correct, the operators of "Movie2K" still possess a huge fortune in digital currencies.
Bitcoin Sale in Saxony
Saxony, a state located in eastern Germany, sold a total of 50,000 Bitcoins last year after seizing them from the famous hacking site.
This operation sparked a wave of negative reactions from the Bitcoin community, and it later became clear that the sale was poorly timed, given the significant rise in the price of the leading digital currency since then.
An Unswept Hoard
Now, "Arcane" claims to have found another unswept hoard of approximately the same size. At current prices, it is worth more than what the German government has already seized.
The coins are hidden in 100 wallets, and it remains unclear whether the German government (or the state of Saxony specifically) has completely overlooked these coins.
It remains to be seen whether Saxony will attempt to seize these Bitcoins in the future if Arcane's analysis is correct.
