Solana Set to Accelerate Thanks to Alpenglow Upgrade

The Solana network is preparing for a leap in speed after validators approved upgrade proposal #Alpenglow with a 98% support rate. Alpenglow, a new consensus protocol, will help reduce transaction confirmation latency to around 150-200ms, significantly improving user experience.

Performance Improvement

According to Max Resnick, chief economist at Anza, the upgrade will make confirmation speeds five times faster than currently. Applications will run more smoothly and exchanges will be able to confirm deposits much faster. The goal of Alpenglow is to bring #solana to achieve performance equivalent to centralized infrastructure in traditional finance.

Roadmap and Vision

Alpenglow is expected to be deployed on the testnet in December and launch on the mainnet in Q1/2026. Kyle Samani, managing partner at Multicoin Capital, called this the "most significant restructuring step of the Solana protocol to date," paving the way for the development of the "capital market on the Internet." This upgrade is part of a long-term plan to help Solana become the platform for the world's leading financial markets, with a goal of achieving 1 million transactions per second. Analysts believe that the deployment of Alpenglow could help Solana's price reach $250 by the end of this year. #anh_ba_cong
