Chikungunya virus 😷

It is reported that in China "anti-Covid" restrictions are being reintroduced due to the chikungunya virus. We are figuring out what is really happening:

I was recently in the south, in Foshan, Guangzhou. It is in those areas that a new virus is raging in China.

Information for "consumers" is posted in hotels and public places. I took a photo in my hotel.

Chikungunya is not a deadly virus. It's just very unpleasant. High fever, itching, joints swell and hurt a lot - this lasts for about a week. 1 in 1000 people dies.

It spreads through blood and insect bites. Primarily by these striped mosquitoes 🦟 A mosquito is flying - take a closer look - if it's striped.

- run away)

Due to the method of transmission, there are and will be no "anti-Covid" restrictions. The virus can only be transmitted from person to person through blood. There is no point in wearing masks, as they say, or gathering in groups of more than three, and so on.

These mosquitoes need certain climatic conditions - heat, humidity. Therefore, the virus does not spread further north. The epicenter is approximately in the Guangzhou area.

What measures are being taken? Parks, ponds, and places where mosquitoes usually breed are treated with insecticides. This is standard practice for southern regions. Measures are currently intensified.

Striped mosquitoes bite only during the day. Specifically at certain hours - in the morning and after lunch. They sleep at night. Therefore, it is recommended to thoroughly treat the body with insect repellent during the day. And at home, accordingly, burn mosquito-repelling products to the fullest.

That's it. Nothing particularly scary. Covid hasn't returned.
