As Bitcoin's hype gradually fades, Ethereum has welcomed another wave of enthusiasm. The nominal open interest for CME Ethereum futures has recently exceeded $10 billion, setting a historical high.

Data shows that the number of traders holding 'Large Open Interest (futures positions exceeding 1,250 Ethereum)' at CME also climbed to 101 at the beginning of this month, setting a new record.

Currently, CME offers Ethereum futures in two specifications: 'Standard Contract (50 Ethereum)' and 'Micro Contract (0.1 Ethereum)'. When a single investor holds at least 25 contracts, they are considered a 'Large Holder'.

This wave of capital inflow is not only reflected in the amount but also in the accompanying data: the number of open contracts for CME micro Ethereum futures has surpassed 500,000; the open interest amount for Ethereum options has also reached $1 billion, with the number of contracts hitting a new high this year, exceeding 4,800.

Giovanni Vicioso, Global Head of Cryptocurrency Products at CME, stated:

We are indeed witnessing a revival and renewed enthusiasm in the Ethereum futures market, especially with a significant increase in activity from institutional investors.

Our large open interest holders in Ethereum futures have reached a new high, which is a key indicator for market participants, as it signifies that the institutional and professional ecosystem for Ethereum is growing increasingly robust.

CoinGecko market data shows that Ethereum's cumulative increase this month reached 23%, peaking at over $4,900, setting a new historical record.

Just in August, U.S. Ethereum spot ETFs attracted a net inflow of $3.69 billion, maintaining positive capital inflows for four consecutive months.

In contrast, Bitcoin spot ETFs recorded a net outflow of $803 million during the same period, ending a four-month trend of net inflows. The shift in capital distribution indicates that the main players in the market are quietly changing.
