Recently, during a casual chat with friends, the topic always revolves around: EigenLayer and Solayer, which one has more potential?
Some say Ethereum is the 'orthodox' choice, with a large ecosystem, security, and stability, so EigenLayer is naturally the more reliable option. Others argue that Solana is as fast as lightning, and Solayer offers greater imaginative possibilities.
As I listened to their debate, a picture floated in my mind:
Ethereum resembles an ancient metropolis, solemn and heavy, with clear rules.
Solana feels more like an emerging port city, fast-paced with plentiful opportunities, its nighttime lights continuously expanding.
In these two 'cities', EigenLayer and Solayer represent two different stories. The former leans towards stability and conservatism, while the latter feels like a vibrant new attempt.
I don't intend to say which is better or worse. For me, the appeal of Solayer lies in its ongoing growth and the many unknowns it brings. It is precisely this uncertainty that makes people want to participate. Just like when we are young, we choose to live in a more vibrant city rather than staying in a safe old town.
So, when someone asks me 'why I pay attention to Solayer', my answer is simple: because it shows me another possible future.
