The Pentagon is preparing "target packages" for drone strikes against Mexican cartels, according to sources from the Department of Defense. Units at Fort Bragg (home of the Special Forces and Delta Force) are compiling lists of potential targets by direct order from Trump.
In February, the State Department classified 6 Mexican cartels as "foreign terrorist organizations." Elon Musk celebrated by saying: "That means they are eligible for drone strikes." The CIA is reviewing its authorities to use lethal force against the cartels.
🚫 President Claudia Sheinbaum was emphatic: "The United States is NOT going to come to Mexico with its army. We cooperate, we collaborate, but there will be no invasion. It is off the table, absolutely off the table." Mexico has already extradited 55 kingpins in 2025 to appease Trump.
A drill in Congress showed the consequences: the attacks would NOT reduce fentanyl (the labs cost only $60,000 and are rebuilt quickly), would provoke more violent cartel wars, and Mexico would cut ALL immigration cooperation (60% fewer crossings in 2024 thanks to them).
Experts say it would be illegal under international law and counterproductive. But in the White House, there are "multiple Pentagon meetings on military operations against cartels" and Trump personally demands target lists. The question is not IF they will do it, but WHEN.
