WCT's Implementation of Customs Clearance and Traceability in Cainiao International Cross-Border Logistics
In 2023, Cainiao International applied WCT technology to the customs clearance scenario of cross-border e-commerce logistics, building a "on-chain customs clearance + traceability" system for categories such as beauty and maternal and child products. The declaration information for each shipment (such as product category, value, origin), logistics trajectory (from overseas warehouse to domestic bonded warehouse), and customs inspection records are all stored on-chain, integrated in real-time with the customs system, and customs clearance data is automatically verified. Consumers can scan codes through the Cainiao APP to view the full chain traceability information of products, eliminating "bonded area fraud." By 2024, this model will cover more than 20 pilot cities for cross-border e-commerce, improving customs clearance efficiency by 50%, reducing average customs clearance time from 48 hours to 12 hours, and decreasing the customs clearance delay rate caused by information discrepancies by 82%, while the delivery rate of cross-border packages increases to 98.5%.
