30,000 "dormant" bitcoins have been activated. What could happen to the price? "Don't be surprised if the market moves from here," says analyst. 31,968 BTC, equivalent to about 3.78 billion dollars, have awakened from their slumber of between 3 and 5 years. This movement is the first of such magnitude in over a year for this age group.
An analysis by J.A. Martuun, published by the on-chain data provider CryptoQuant, labeled this movement as "a rare event." The following chart shows that similar movements have coincided with key moments in Bitcoin's trajectory. It shows the amount of Bitcoin that has been "dormant" for a while and suddenly "wakes up" and moves. The highest red peaks correspond to moments of high volume of "old" coins moving,
For example, on January 24, 2024, the transfer of 33,803 BTC marked a bottom in the price, while on March 23 of that same year, the movement of 95,090 BTC indicated a local maximum.
Other cases, such as those recorded on June 22 (43,641 BTC) and July 30, 2024 (29,994 BTC), also accompanied turning points, whether due to selling pressure or spikes in the quote.
In this context, the recent movement of 31,968 BTC could be a sign of imminent action. "Don't be surprised if the market moves from here," warned CryptoQuant, highlighting that these peaks often anticipate volatility. Possible profit-taking The activation of these coins could translate into sales to secure profits. This would explain the correction phase that Bitcoin is undergoing, which last week reached an all-time high of 124,000 dollars before retreating to the current 116,000 dollars. #FOMCMinutes #StrategyBTCPurchase #BinanceHODLerPLUME
