Blue Origin now allows users to pay for New Shepard suborbital flights with Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, and USD-pegged stablecoins USDT and USDC. This option went live on August 11, 2025, through a partnership with payment processor Shift4, which also supports direct payments using wallets like Coinbase and MetaMask. The company stated that this integrated service will be applied to upcoming commercial flights 'starting today.'
Shift4 positions this move as a way to unleash the demand of global cryptocurrency holders while keeping merchants settled in USD. The processor emphasizes always-on availability — which is very useful for high-priced cross-border purchases like space tourism — and notes that more than 75 people have crossed the Kármán line aboard the New Shepard spacecraft. Its promotion even mentions helping the 'first 1000 people' get to space faster.
