💥The United States has intensified sanctions against Garantex, a Russian cryptocurrency exchange, just before the controversial talks between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin in Alaska. Garantex is accused of facilitating over $100 million in illicit activities, including money laundering for ransomware groups linked to the Kremlin.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury, through the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), not only re-sanctioned Garantex but also included its successor Grinex, several associated companies, and key executives such as Sergey Mendeleev. In coordination with Tether, they have frozen $27 million in USDT tokens related to this platform, while the Russian stablecoin A7A5 has been crucial for asset recovery following legal actions.
