This case originated from a donation of approximately $45 million (about 468 Bitcoins) from the Ministry of Justice earlier this year. Prosecutors stated that the investigation has shifted focus to suspected money laundering and illegal drug trafficking.

Previously, this unidentified Bitcoin donation led to the resignation of then-Minister of Justice Pavel Blazek. Subsequent audits revealed that the Ministry of Justice should not have accepted this donation due to the possibility that the funds were derived from criminal proceeds.
