🇸🇦 SAUDI ARABIA STRONGLY CONDEMS NETANYAHU'S STATEMENT ON HIS VISION OF "GREATER ISRAEL"
Netanyahu stated in an interview with i24 News that he is "very attached" to the vision of Greater Israel. This expansionist concept includes: East Jerusalem, the West Bank, Gaza, the Sinai Peninsula, the Golan Heights, and parts of other neighboring Arab countries.
The Saudi Foreign Ministry completely rejected the "expansionist and settlement ideas" adopted by the Israeli authorities. Saudi Arabia affirmed the "historical and legal right of the Palestinian people" to establish an independent and sovereign state on their land.
🌍 The Arab League joined the condemnation, calling the statements a "violation of the sovereignty of Arab states" and a "serious threat to collective Arab national security." They said it reflects an "extremist mentality steeped in colonial illusions."
The moment is critical: Saudi Arabia had been in talks to normalize relations with Israel before the war in Gaza. Such expansionist statements complicate any future agreement and reinforce the Saudi position of demanding a Palestinian state as a prerequisite.
Netanyahu seems to be playing to his domestic far-right base, but in doing so, he is alienating the Arab partners he needs for regional security and undermining Trump's efforts to achieve peace agreements in the Middle East.
