On August 14, local time on August 13, the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the US Treasury Department issued General License No. 125
authorizing Russian President Putin and his delegation to meet with US representatives in Alaska under current sanctions.
🔥The license stipulates that transactions related to the meeting between the US and Russian governments in Alaska that are deemed "necessary" can be exempted until 12:01 AM (Eastern Time) on August 20, 2025, but does not include unfreezing Russian assets or other transactions prohibited under sanctions. US President Trump and Russian President Putin will meet on the 15th in Anchorage, Alaska's largest city, in a one-on-one format.
