Comments from the U.S. Secretary of the Treasury on Customs Revenue and Supreme Court Decisions
According to BlockBeats, U.S. Treasury Secretary Besent stated in an interview with Fox Business that the continuous flow of customs tax revenue into the U.S. Treasury could influence the decisions of the Supreme Court if customs lawsuits from lower courts are appealed to the highest court.
Besent remarked, "The more revenue we generate, the harder it is for the Supreme Court to rule against us." This statement was made in the context of a case currently being reviewed by the federal appeals court in Washington, D.C. This case challenges the legality of the so-called 'retaliatory' tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, as well as another set of tariffs applied in February against China, Canada, and Mexico.
