According to The Block, Ethereum developer "Fede's intern" has been released from Turkey and announced a donation of $500,000 for the legal defense of Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm. The developer stated that he was detained at Izmir Airport due to academic research related to a certain privacy protocol, and claimed that his team's work was solely for the purpose of anonymous analysis research, and did not develop privacy features or assist in illegal activities. Previously, Storm was found by a U.S. jury to have violated remittance regulations for operating Tornado Cash.
