President Donald Trump brokered a peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan ending a conflict over Nagorno Karabakh that began in 1988 Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan signed the joint declaration at the White House committing to cease hostilities open borders for trade and promote economic cooperation in the South Caucasus
