On August 6, 2025, a third minting of the USD1 stablecoin took place on the TRON blockchain, adding $23 million worth of USD1 to circulation. The first mint occurred on July 5, 2025, followed by a second later that month.
This was the first issuance after the GENIUS Act became law on July 18, 2025. The Act created the first federal rules for stablecoins in the United States, requiring:
- 1:1 backing with U.S. dollars or Treasury securities
- Issuance by authorized financial institutions
- Monthly public reserve reports and independent audits
- KYC/AML checks and the ability to freeze or seize tokens
USD1 remains much smaller than established stablecoins like Tether (USDT) and USD Coin (USDC), but its market capitalization and transaction activity have both increased in recent weeks.
