UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron agreed in a phone call to actively engage with US President Donald Trump in preparation for his upcoming meeting with Russian leader Vladimir Putin
Starmer and Macron discussed recent events in Ukraine, reaffirming their unwavering support for Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and "efforts aimed at ensuring a fair and lasting peace for the Ukrainian people."
They paid particular attention to the role of US President Donald Trump in the peace process. The parties welcomed his initiatives for a ceasefire and agreed to closely coordinate positions ahead of Trump's meeting with Putin.
The leaders also agreed to remain in close contact to coordinate further steps within the framework of international efforts to resolve the war in Ukraine
