#美国加征关税
Huh? Back and forth bounce?
According to a report from the Japan Economic News website, Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba acknowledged during a press conference at the Prime Minister's residence on the 7th that the U.S. side had not fulfilled the content regarding 'tax relief' in the agreement reached by both sides previously, stating, 'We strongly urge the U.S. side to immediately take measures to amend the presidential executive order.'
The report stated that the U.S. side had previously promised in negotiations that Japan would receive 'tax relief' when subjected to 'reciprocal tariffs,' meaning that products from Japan with a tax rate of over 15% would not be subject to additional 'reciprocal tariffs,' while those with a tax rate below 15% would see their rates raised to 15%.
Shigeru Ishiba mentioned that on this point, 'there is no disagreement between Japan and the U.S.,' and that the Minister of Economic Revitalization, Ryu Akizawa, currently visiting the U.S., has reaffirmed the content of the agreement.
The new tariff rates and related policies for 'reciprocal tariffs' by the U.S. government took effect on the 7th. The Japanese side believes that due to the absence of mentions regarding tariff details for Japan in the official announcement previously released by the U.S., some Japanese products may be subjected to higher tariffs.
