The statue of Satoshi Nakamoto, installed in the city of Lugano as a symbol of the anonymity and collective identity of Bitcoin, has been stolen by unknown individuals. The project initiators have confirmed the theft.
The local authorities have announced a reward of 0.1 $BTC (about $14,000) for any information that helps recover the artwork.
The piece, known as the "Vanishing Statue of Satoshi," was created by Italian artist Valentina Piccozzi. It is made of stainless steel and corten blocks, giving the figure a disappearing effect when viewed from the front or back. The concept symbolized the mystery of Nakamoto's identity and the idea that "we are all Satoshi."
