When you make a spelling mistake and change the date of crypto 😂
In 2013, a young man on Reddit named "GameKyuubi" was drinking, partying, and following Bitcoin. The price at that time was around $150.
He decided to write an enthusiastic post on the Bitcointalk forum… but he was too drunk, so instead of writing "I'm holding," he accidentally wrote:
"I AM HODLING"
People laughed at the mistake, but the term spread and became a famous meme in the crypto world. And today, anyone who holds onto their coins despite the drop is called:
"He is one of the HODLers" – HODLer
The funny part?
The same person later wrote that he made the post while drunk and upset because he lost a trade because he was going to sleep!!
If he hadn’t slept, he would have sold at a loss.
Years later, the silly word “HODL” entered crypto dictionaries, and people started printing it on T-shirts and putting it in resumes 😂
