Moscow Exchange Plans to Launch Ethereum Futures Index Fund
According to ChainCatcher, the Moscow Exchange plans to launch an index fund tracking Ethereum futures in August 2024. The fund is based on the iShares Ethereum Trust ETF operated by BlackRock, and the contract size is slightly smaller than the iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF.
The fund's quote price is equal to the price of one share, and the contract is settled in rubles in cash. The exchange launched its first Bitcoin futures contract in June 2023 and plans to launch more cryptocurrency products, including mutual funds and structured bonds based on crypto asset indices, pending regulatory approval.
The exchange also plans to launch futures contracts tracking U.S. government bonds, using the iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF as the underlying asset. The exchange is also expanding its product offerings as interest in cryptocurrencies grows.
