Ripple will apply for a MiCA license to operate in the EU
Ripple Labs has confirmed its intention to apply for a license under the European regulation Markets in Crypto Assets (#MiCA ). Company representatives believe that the European market is a strategic direction and emphasized their desire to expand operations in the region.
The MiCA provisions, which are set to come into effect in phases from 2024 to 2025, create unified rules for crypto companies in the EU. Ripple stated that it sees "significant opportunities" in the European Economic Area and intends to use the license to enter the local market with its products, including payment solutions and stablecoins ($USDT $USDC ).
The company has already taken initial steps, having registered the structure Ripple Payments Europe S.A. in Luxembourg in April 2025. Furthermore, the firm has reportedly applied for an electronic money institution license in the same jurisdiction. A Ripple representative declined to confirm this information, citing a lack of comments.
