Donald Trump, American President, announced on Sunday that the United States would send air defense systems (called "Patriot") to Ukraine to help it protect itself against Russian attacks. At the same time, he issued a warning to Russia: if the war does not stop within the next 50 days, the United States could impose very high taxes on Russian products and even on those from countries that trade with Russia.
Trump stated that discussions with Vladimir Putin, the Russian President, have yielded no results, as bombings continue despite negotiations. American military aid, funded with NATO (an alliance of countries that includes the United States and many European countries), is set to arrive quickly in Ukraine, where fighting remains intense, especially in the east of the country.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the United States for their support, but he also requests that sanctions against Russia be even stronger. For their part, Russian forces continue their attacks and claim to have taken control of several villages.
"This is excellent news for Ukraine": If I were in Putin's place, I would think and sit down at the negotiating table, considering Trump's plans in these 50 days, said NATO Secretary General Rutte.
