In a sensational episode in the cryptocurrency world, Binance founder Changpeng Zhao (CZ) suddenly retweeted a post from Matt Wallace. The tweet accused Coinbase of being an anonymous source behind the scenes, spreading negative reports about President Donald Trump's cryptocurrency project World Liberty Financial and Binance in the media.
The tweet was sent on July 13, aimed at Wallace's 2.3 million followers:
"Coinbase panicked after learning that CZ might receive a pardon. Due to its high fees and poor customer service, Coinbase executives are worried that if Binance legally returns to the U.S., it will severely erode their market share."
A scheme to eliminate competitors?
According to sources cited by Wallace, Coinbase is the anonymous party leaking information to the media with the aim of applying pressure to Binance and the World Liberty Financial project. Allegedly, the project has close ties to President Trump. Its true purpose is to prevent the president from granting CZ a pardon, thereby blocking Binance's legal return to the U.S. market.
Despite facing legal challenges, Binance remains the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume. In a crypto-friendly environment under the Trump administration, Binance's return to the U.S. could threaten Coinbase's domestic monopoly. This threat is particularly pronounced given the widespread complaints about Coinbase's high fees and poor user experience.
Wallace posed the question:
"Does Coinbase dare to publicly acknowledge its actions and bear the corresponding consequences?"
The shadow of FTX and CZ's 'prophecy'?
Even more shocking is that as early as 2022, CZ retweeted a post from CoinDesk reporting on the fraud of FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried. Ultimately, Sam was sentenced to 25 years in prison. Now, one cannot help but ask: Is CZ also 'prophesying' the fate of these political manipulators?
This retweet is seen as both a historical review and a warning, raising doubts about whether CZ possesses undisclosed information, potentially even evidence of the secret game between political and business forces in the U.S.
