In Dagestan, the fight against illegal mining farms continues. Recently, energy officials, together with law enforcement, discovered a private house in the village of Babayurt with 35 mining devices connected to the power grid without accounting, leading to a consumption of 249,000 kWh — amounting to up to 1.5 million rubles. Drones equipped with thermal imagers are used to locate underground farms, identifying operational equipment by thermal traces. In one case, a drone found a farm in an attic, causing damage to the owner of about 3 million rubles. Mining is prohibited in the region until 2031, and this year alone, 92 devices have been confiscated from eight farms. Authorities threaten fines and dismissals for employees of 'Rosseti' if such facilities are not found in a timely manner. Technologies and joint measures help to combat illegal mining more effectively, which causes significant damage to power grids and the region's budget.
