Trends, tracks, and hotspots are stories of different "lengths"; essentially, they are all narratives.
Trends are long-term narratives that last for decades, or even more than twenty years. The opportunities in tracks last about half a year to a year, while hotspots are short-term narratives lasting one to two months.
Therefore, chasing hotspots can easily lead to total loss. Because when you find out that someone is making money from a certain hotspot, by the time you get in, you often become a "bag holder".
On the other hand, if you pursue tracks, when you see the first wave of people making money and the second wave joins in, there is still a chance to ride the main upward wave, as the narrative of tracks lasts long enough.
As for trends, they often span over a decade or even twenty years. Moreover, during this process, the main tracks will continuously switch and mutate. As long as you can stay within this trend, you will generally not fare too badly.
