Trump wrote a long letter to Musk today on his own social media, clarifying the falling out between the two. I think Musk is somehow less suited for politics; he has the wisdom of a businessman but lacks the vision of a politician.
Trump's letter said: "I am saddened to see Elon Musk completely 'derailed' over the past five weeks; it has become a train wreck. He even wants to establish a third political party, even though third parties have never succeeded in American history; this system does not seem designed for them. The only thing third parties excel at is creating utter chaos and disaster, and we are already chaotic enough thanks to the radical left-wing Democrats, who have lost their confidence and their sanity! In contrast, the Republican Party is a smoothly operating 'machine'; we just passed the largest bill of its kind in American history. This is a great bill—but unfortunately for Musk, it abolished the ridiculous Electric Vehicle Mandate (EV Mandate), which would have forced everyone to buy electric vehicles in a short time. I have opposed this mandate from the beginning. Now people can freely choose the cars they want to buy—gasoline cars, hybrid cars (which are currently performing well in the market), or new technology vehicles that may emerge in the future, without being forced to buy electric vehicles. I have been focusing on this issue during my two years of campaigning, making it very clear in both speeches and private talks. In fact, when Musk fully and unreservedly supported me, I asked him if he knew I intended to abolish the Electric Vehicle Mandate, which is a key point I mentioned in every speech. He said he had no problem with it, and I was surprised! Additionally, Musk wanted one of his close friends to be the head of NASA, and although I think that friend is excellent, I was surprised to find out he is a purebred Democrat who has never donated a penny to the Republican Party, and maybe Musk himself is too. I also feel it is not quite appropriate; Musk has significant commercial interests in the aerospace field, while his close friend would be in charge of NASA, which is an important component of Musk's business activities. My most important mission is: to protect the American public!"
