Whales sell 500,000 bitcoins, institutions buy 900,000, is the market about to change?

Recently, the Bitcoin market has quietly changed.

Over the past year, "whales" holding a large amount of Bitcoin have sold more than 500,000 BTC, which is worth nearly 50 billion USD at current prices. On the other hand, institutions like ETFs and companies have quietly acquired nearly 900,000 bitcoins, and now institutions hold a total of 4.8 million bitcoins, accounting for 25% of the total circulating supply (a total of 20 million). This is the deepest level of institutional participation in Bitcoin history.

In simple terms, the market used to be dominated by retail investors and large holders, but it is gradually becoming dominated by institutions. Another phenomenon is that Bitcoin's price volatility has recently dropped to a two-year low. In the past, it was crazy; a 30% rise one day and a 40% drop the next were common. The future trend may be more stable, with an estimated annual growth rate of only 10%-20%, making extreme fluctuations less likely to be seen again.

However, risks must also be noted. If whales continue to sell off or if the pace of institutional purchases slows down, the market is likely to experience a correction and could even trigger a sell-off. So retail investors need to keep an eye out; even if things seem calm now, there may be changes brewing beneath the surface.
