GIANTS AWAKEN! Two "Sleeping" Bitcoin Wallets Move $2.18 Billion in BTC After 14 Years

Is a Sell-Off or a New Era for Old Hodlers Coming?

In an event that has captured the attention of the entire crypto community, two mysterious wallet addresses, #bitcoin , that had lain dormant for over 14 years, became active on Thursday night (July 3, 2025).

Together, these wallets moved a total of 20,000 #BTC , whose current value amounts to a staggering $2.18 billion.

On-chain data reveals that these 20,000 BTC originate from an original transaction on April 3, 2011, when an address sent 23,377.83 BTC to three destinations. Two of those destinations received 10,000 BTC each, and it is precisely those two wallets ("12tLs...xj2me" and "1KbrS...AWJYm") that have now been activated.

At the time of the original transaction in 2011, Bitcoin was worth just $0.78, meaning the original 20,000 BTC were worth just $15,600. After 14 years of inactivity, their value has increased by 13,982,800%.

Both wallets moved their funds within just 30 minutes of each other, transferring them to new addresses. This is the first recorded transaction on those addresses, suggesting an upgrade to a more modern Bitcoin address format with lower fees.

Although the exact reason for the transfer, the identity of the owners, or whether a single person controls both addresses remains unknown, this massive movement has sparked market speculation.
