What is a Token Standard?

Not all tokens are created the same — they follow different standards depending on the blockchain they’re built on.

A token standard is like a rulebook.

It tells the blockchain how tokens should behave, move, and interact.

🔸 ERC-20

Used on the Ethereum network

Most popular for DeFi tokens

Examples: UNI, LINK, USDC (on ETH)

🔹 BEP-20

Used on the BNB Smart Chain (BSC)

Cheaper and faster transactions

Examples: CAKE, BUSD, USDT (on BSC)

📌 So if you send a BEP-20 token to an ERC-20 wallet — it won’t work.

✅ Always check the network before sending or receiving tokens!
